Since it’s launch in 1997, IVC has had a focus on durable and sustainable production methods. Through the combination of a sustainable approach and advanced product innovation, we strive to be an industry leader in eco-friendly flooring. Alongside the actions we’ve already taken to reduce our environmental impact, the IVC Journey 2040 is made of bold targets for the production of Heterogeneous Vinyl that will help us to achieve a better future. We also know that true sustainability is not just how we make products and so we are setting key goals for our cultural and ethical development. Discover how we work towards a sustainable future!
Scope 3
No glue, rapid installation, durable and easy to recycle: Looselay vinyl is the next-level flooring solution. Used in both public and private building projects, this product is in demand for good reason. The glueless technology makes installation superfast, odourless odorless and stainless, while creating a healthy and elegant indoor environment. Made from 100% recyclable materials, it’s a refined and sustainable flooring innovation. All our products can be looselaid depending on area surface and purpose.
Scope 3
In our ambition to achieve full circularity, waste reclamation, reuse and recycling are essential parts of our daily process. With our Recover Take Back Program, we try to maximise maximize the amount of material that we recycle into new floors. The initiative gives us a way to collect off-cuts and used floors to be reused in other materials or recycled into floors.
First of all, we recycle internal production or post-industrial waste or take back post-installation waste and post-consumer loose-lay sheet vinyl during installation and guarantee full reuse or recycling, with the support of external recycling centers. More and more we recycle at our own on-site recycling units. This way, we optimize transport between partners and our production sites. All inhouse recycled material is used as raw material for new LVT floor coverings. Secondly, we promote loose-lay installation, which is easier to remove and recycle.
Scope 3
All our textile backed-products will be made from carefully chosen textile with ranges from 25% up to 90% recycled content in the textile fibers. For some of our textile-backed products, additionally we join the with Plastic Bank social initiative. Every day, Plastic Bank communities are searching on sea coasts for ocean-bound plastic waste and bring it to local collection centers. In exchange, local societies are rewarded with life improving benefits including health, work and life insurance, digital connectivity, grocery vouchers, school supplies, fintech services, and more. Plastic Bank currently stops ocean-bound plastic in the Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, and Egypt.
Scope 1 & 2
When we make sheet vinyl flooring, we rely on natural resources like the sun, wind and water as much as possible to reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing process. Since nature’s resources are the most valuable ones we have, we make every effort to look for the most efficient and sustainable ways to use them.
Scope 1, 2 & 3
Scope 3
Our ultimate dream, ecological responsible business through a full circular economy and product. We’re completely rethinking our products: how can we use recycled sheet vinyl in the development of new sheet vinyl?
Besides buying recycled, biobased or green energy produced content, we already reuse or recycle our post-industrial, post-installation and post-consumer waste into floor coverings.
However, we do not stop to innovate. Using an innovative recycling technology, we are able to make all layers of our sheet vinyl partially circular. In order to do this, we’re taking a two-pronged approach, centred on the micronisation of sheet vinyl on the one hand and the recycling of plasticizers via innovative extraction technology on the other hand.
This groundbreaking technology – the first circular process in the industry will be contributing more and more to our new product portfolio.
Scope 3
Together with temperature and humidity, air quality is one of the most important factors in interior environments. We want to make sure that our sheet vinyl flooring, that is often a central part of people’s living spaces, contribute to healthy and safe living spaces and ensure that they don’t pose any health risks to our end users. To do so we make sure that our finished products intended for interior use comply with some of the strictest indoor emission labels.
As part of our ethical policies and legal obligations, we only purchase and process raw materials that are in line with the social and ethic regulations, are fully compliant to regulations such as REACH. Additionally we commit to screen our partners and suppliers and only work with suppliers who comply with these social, ethic and legal regulations. In this way we are able to guarantee the integrity and quality of the end product that we deliver to the end user.
Scope 1, 2 & 3
To comprehensively understand the impact of our products, we conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA). These assessments allow us to identify and push us to innovate to further mitigate potential environmental hotspots throughout the entire life cycle of our products, from raw material extraction to end-of-life and related disposal.
To underline our commitment to transparency these LCA’s are transformed to EPD’s or FDES (French market). By providing stakeholders, customers, and the public with detailed information on the environmental performance of our products, we guide them to make informed choices aligned with their sustainability goals.
